The sender of this painting rightly asks: 'A joke? A bet with another artist?'.

Two rowing ladies.
Oil on canvas,
25 x 35,5 cm.
Signed l.l. 1915

The chosen work is very a-typical for Zandleven. He hardly painted people and also few water-sceneries.
Let's compare a few things:

JAZ-1915-001JAZ-1915-002

The touch in JAZ-1915-001 and JAZ-1915-002 is clearly different from the two rowing ladies. Zandleven painted with lots of very small dots, a 'pointillistic' style. The style of JAZ-1915-007 is more close, but still we feel a real difference.

The subject is very a-typical:
a romatic scene,
two women in a rowing-boat,
with parasols.

 The signature seems ok,
but nevertheless ....
